Winners of the Manchester League Premier Division and the Manchester FA County Cup last season, AVRO were amongst the clubs, including Town, to be promoted into the new 20 team Hallmark Security NWCFL Division One North.

AVRO started their campaign strong after a 5-0 victory over Ashton Town last weekend, but were unable to secure another three points on Wednesday night as they fell to a narrow 0-1 defeat at the hands of Steeton.

With 185 supporters through the gate on the opening day and another 165 on Wednesday evening, it’s almost certain that a big crowd will be expected on Saturday.

Town remain unbeaten going into this fixture, after coming back from 2-0 down to beat AFC Liverpool 5-3 on the first day of the season, and earning a point away at Daisy Hill on Monday evening.

Manager Lee Ashcroft is relishing the trip to Greater Manchester.

“AVRO are a good side and they have a good set up at the Vestacare Stadium.

“It’ll be a difficult test for us but we are confident in our own ability and looking forward to the challenge on Saturday.”

Kick-off is 3pm.

Exit the M60 at J22 then A62 towards Manchester/Failsworth.

First left onto Hollins Rd – signposted Oldham South and Hollinwood.

Follow Hollins Rd to junction with Oak Rd – just before petrol station – then Oak Rd to Whitebank Rd. Stadium is directly in front of you.
