Longridge Town Chairman Brian Parkinson (pictured) announced his decision to retire from his post at last night’s AGM, following a short period of ill health, after 20 years in the role.
'Parky' has overseen a hugely succesful period in the Club's short history, and was instrumental in the formation of Town, overseeing the amalgamation of Longridge's two historic football Clubs, Longridge Utd and Longridge St. Wilfreds, back in 1996.
Speaking last night he thanked all the Managers, Players, Committee members and supporters for their support and wished the Club every success in the future.
Brian leaves the Club having taken us from Preston park football, on Longridge Rec, to last season's West Lancs League title, and now the brink of the North West Counties League, playing at our own recently upgraded ground, and with an exciting future ahead.
Without him none of that would have been possible.
He is succeeded in the role of Chairman by Kevin Harrison, whose association with the Club stretches back many years being a former player for all 3 aforementioned teams in Longridge, and a current Club Committee Member.
