Final chairman communication of the 2024/25 season

Final chairman communication of the 2024/25 season

Connor Philipson16 Apr - 17:00

Chairman Lee Jameson has released the following statement as we enter the final game of the season

"I can’t believe that I am writing my last Chairman’s Communication as the season approaches its conclusion.

It only seems like yesterday that I was given the honour of being elected your Chairman and I don’t regret accepting the great honour bestowed on me by the Committee.

We may not have any thing to play for except for pride but it would be great to get a win and end the season on a high. It is my belief that the team and management have done the Town proud this season, we have such a young squad and we have also been very unlucky with constant injuries.

The Manager of the year will most likely go to a team in the top 5 but it’s not all about results in my opinion. Ashy has developed a young side, kept it together on a budget far lower then most and managed to secure NWCL Premier status long before the season end, it is for these reasons I believe he should be in contention for the award.

We have had some memorable moments this season, the cup run where we reached the semi-final of the Lancashire Cup, beating Nothern Prem sides Clitheroe and Lancaster City along the way and also coming from 3-1 Down at Charnock to draw 4 apiece.

The vast majority of non-league clubs rely on the help of volunteers to keep the club going through the season and here at Longridge Town we have a great set of people, too many to thank individually but without you Longridge Town would not exist.

I would like to thank the retiring Committee Members, Jo Cummings and Jim White. Without the hours of help they gave to the club over the years we would not be in such a great position as we are now. I would also like to pay tribute to Mark Cummings, Bob Gornall and Geoff Russell who also put many hours into making sure match-days ran smoothly.

Most of you will think that the Committee and Management will have a break now until the pre-season friendlies, think again pre-season is even busier than the season itself.

On the 4th of May we have Rounders Tournament down at Inglewhite Road, this is a Charity Event in memory of Jade Cronshaw who sadly passed away 20 years ago on the 5th of May. Money raised at this event will go to Epilepsy Research. The bar will be open from 12:30pm.

We will be also holding a “Pants on the Pitch” event down at the football club on the 3rd of May where local musician and singer Anthony Walker will be performing. Entry is free and the bar will be open from 1pm.

I want to finishing my notes by saying a big thank you to all supporters and sponsors without you Inglewhite Road would be a boring place. I hope to see as many of you as possible on Saturday and let’s get the ground rocking as we close the curtains on a long season.

Thank you for your support and remember we are always looking for new volunteers so if you want to get involved please get in touch."

Chairman Lee
