Onto the match.

Town now face perhaps the toughest test of the season in former EFL side at an over 11,000 capacity seater stadium.

A home defeat to in-form Glossop leaves Longridge in need of a big three points to help reignite their fantastic start to the season.

However, they'll have to get past unbeaten opposition.

The Opposition

Despite some turbulent off the field issues at Bury this season, the Shakers are flying.

The quality of their squad now is there to be seen, especially since they put five past Town in the reverse fixture in a game which at the time didn't feel like a 5-1.

However, with a squad including attacking talent like Brian Ly, Ruben Jerome, Bebeto Gomes, Irywah Gooden, Tanaka Cherera and Rustam Stepans... Town can be happy with the fight they originally put up.

Former Town midfielder Morgan Homson-Smith joined the Shakers in the summer, but it yet to make his debut following a long battle with injury.

Bury gained playing rights at Gigg Lane again back in the summer of 2023 and have played their since.

The Ridge played their first game at Gigg in September 2023 stole a point from Bury after an early Jack Anderton strike got them off to a flying start after just two minutes.

Unfortunately for Town, Benito Lowe stroked a half-volley home with five minutes left to play to break Longridge hearts.

A defensive performance as astute as that one would certainly would do Town the world of good.

As mentioned though, Bury are showing no signs of slowing down.

They now sit 2nd just five points behind league leaders Ramsbottom United with four games still in hand.

Still yet to lose in the league, they have also won four out of their last five games, whilst conceding the joint least ammount of goals in the division.

Could Town do the incredible despite struggling themselves?

Team News

New goalkeeper James Rogerson made a solid start to his Town career after joining on loan from Accrington Stanley.

Attacker Ibrahim Keita also played well on his debut and both were unlucky to be on the losing side.

Also, Malick Diakite Tanou has also returned to Town after departing for Wythenshawe in the summer.

He too made his second debut on Saturday.

Ben Trafford missed on due to a knee issue at the weekend and it seems like he'll be touch and go for Bury.

Liam Atkinson received his NWCFL player of the month award pre-match on Saturday.

His is now the second Longridge player to receive one this season, following Jordan Gidley's goalkeeper of the month award for July/August.
