Match Preview: Cleator Moor Celtic v Longridge Town

Ellie Hamilton30 Nov 2018 - 09:45

Town begin a busy December with a trip up to Cumbria on Saturday.

Cleator Moor Celtic currently sit tenth in the Hallmark Security NWCFL Division One North, having played fifteen games, four less than Town.

With seven league games played at home so far this season, they have won five and lost two, and aren’t short of firepower, scoring nineteen goals at JBV Park in the process.

Cleator Moor Celtic join Town in being new members of the Hallmark Security NWCFL, after gaining promotion last season from the Wearside League after finishing second, winning 25 of their 32 fixtures.

Adding to promotion, they also won the Cumberland Cup, beating AFC Penrith 2-1 in extra time to secure the trophy.

Town come into the game following the 4-1 win against Lower Breck last weekend and will be looking for a ninth away win this season.

Longridge currently sit four points clear at the top of the First Division North and three points in Cumbria would take Town to 50 points for the season so far.

Defenders George Melling and Gary Basterfield will be back available to manager Lee Ashcroft, after both serving their one match suspensions last weekend.
