A break from league action has perhaps come at a good time, following the last two games with an aggregate score of 7-7.

This Tuesday, Ashcroft's Reds make the short trip to Clitheroe as we look to advance to the third round of the LFA Cup.

Due to to last season's performance in the trophy, where Town managed to get to the quarter finals, they received a bye into the second round.

This won't be Town's first game at Shawbridge.

A couple of seasons ago now, our friends Clitheroe are kind enough to let us host a league game there with Inglewhite Road having issues of the floodlight kind.

In that game, we ran out 3-0 winners over Squires Gate, with Jack Anderton and Morgan Homson-Smith (x2) on the scoresheet.

Our recent away following has been nothing short of fantastic, we hope to see as many of you as possible once again as we look for another good run in this competition.

The Opposition

Clitheroe sit 14th in the Northern Premier League Division West, one league above the Ridge.

They've had a fairly mixed season thus far with 4 wins, 4 draws and 3 loses.

They have only played 11 matches so far in the Premier Division West so far.

Former Town defender Sam Olawumi currently captains the Blues.

Sam spent half a season at Longridge, and made a name for himself among the Town faithful for being a bit of a goalscoring centre half with a vocal presence, before moving onto then play-off chasing Prestwich Heys.

Attacker Vernon Parry is there current top scorer at the moment with 6 goals in 17 games.

Whether either play tomorrow remains to be seen.

Liam Atkinson's second consecutive hat-trick puts him up to 13 goals for the season, putting him up to 7th top goalscorer in the North West Counties.

Accompanying this with four man of the matches in each of his past four games and just 17 games played overall, he's had some start to his first season at Step 5 after coming in from the East Lancs League in the summer.

Attacking midfielder Joe Adams made a busy debut on Saturday after joining from Atherton Collieries, all but assisting Liam's late equaliser.
