The Ridge's 24/25 FA Cup season came to an end, following defeat in the preliminary round to midlands league side 1874 Northwich.
In a game of true fine margins with no room for error, it truly could've gone either way.
However, Town came up just short of the side who one season ago, were playing at a higher level.
There was one change to the starting XI as Liam Atkinson returned from his suspension, to take the place of the now suspended Jacob Bridges.
The visitors started the better, with a belting away following behind the net.
However, with not much to show for it bar a few set pieces which Town cleared from.
The first real meaningful attack came from Town as Anderton's cross was punched into the path of Marshall, who fired it back into the bottom left corner to break the deadlock.
With the momentum now in Longridge's favour, they carved out some decent opportunities for the next 20 or so minutes.
Harvey Roberts was a danger on set pieces, his first corner was headed out to Anderton whose 20 yard effort was blocked on 16 minutes.
Seven minutes later, and another Roberts delivery caused havoc as the ball dropped into the path of Newton who swung his boot at it but saw it blocked.
It then fell to Watkinson whose effort was also blocked.
1874 had their first shot on 32 minutes as Jones blasted over from 20 yards after they hit Town on the break.
The visitors struggled to deal with Marshall and Watkinson down the right, unfortunately something Town failed to capitalise on.
Watkinson headed over from a Marshall cross on 33 minutes.
Marshall then made a surging run down the right again and lifted it across goal.
Shorthouse spilled the cross, Anderton latched onto the loose ball and hit it past the 'keeper.
Devastatingly for Longridge, there was Osbourne on the goal-line to head it clear.
Moments later, it was belted forward from midfield on the counter.
McGowan latched onto it and lobbed Jordan Gidley, sparking wild celebrations on and off the field.
Owen Watkinson tried to pick out the top corner just before the break from 20 yards after cutting in, but it flew just over.
At half time, ticket number 4720 won the pound for the ground jackpot of £66, a big thank you to those who entered and are continuing to enter to help us fund the football club.
It's always massively appreciated and the money never goes to waste.
At the start of the half, Watkinson hit the side netting as Town looked to regain control.
However, as the match grew more physical, 1874 took the lead, even if Town can count themselves a bit unlucky.
1874's Jones poked a ball through from midfield into the path of McGowan but Gidley was there to come out and clear.
The ball dropped to Luke Smith whose effort to clear the loose and dangerous ball, unfortunately was intercepted by Matt Woolley, who took it in his stride and lobbed Gidley from upwards of 35 yards.
A great goal that came out of nowhere, and also seemed to sway the tie, with Town never really recovering.
It also didn't help Gidley, who seemed to fall awkwardly after trying to reach the ball, he carried on like a trooper but was clearly in some pain.
The Ridge had a decent spell on 70 minutes where they kept possession well, but couldn't really carve out any solid opportunities, with 1874 defending like trojans.
1874's Joel Jones completed the scoring with a wonder goal, as he received it down the right before using fast feet to beat his man, and fire into the near post with ten minutes left to play.
Town didn't give in and looked for a way back into the match, but it was great defending again from Niall Osbourne to fling himself infront of substitute Hewitt's volley.
It was good however, to see Charlie Alston back on the pitch again, as he came on in the 93rd minute to play his second game after returning from a two year injury.
Referee Archie Banks then blew the full time whistle, confirming 1874 Northwich's place in the first qualifying round of the FA Cup.
Town are out but not down.
Congratulations to 1874 and we wish them all the very best in the next round.
We now look to make things right on Tuesday night against Litherland at 7:45pm back in the North West Counties Premier Division.
