The Ridge fell to another defeat in the league, this time at South Liverpool.
Town huffed and puffed but couldn't find a way past the Stubborn South defence.
Liam Atkinson made it 8 goals in 4 games as the forward pulled one back with fifteen minutes left to play, however they couldn't break down the back line.
Understandably, Town were unchanged from Tuesday's emphatic 4-1 victory over Northern Prem West Side Clitheroe, with Ryan McLean returning albeit on the bench.
The Ridge started well, Jordan Dainty flicked a loose ball into the path of Joe Adams who fired at goal from an angle but the South defender Dominic Cain began his busy night by blocking wide for a corner.
Roberts picked out Trafford from the resulting set piece.
The defender headed it into Atkinson who nodded it just over the bar.
Liam was then dangerous again as Roberts sent the attacker on his way down the right.
Atkinson worked his way into the penalty area before shooting straight at Lucas Allan, another key player for South today.
Atkinson then found himself in on goal but was forced wide by Hajdari.
He managed to shoot on target but Allan did well to palm it away from goal.
Luke Smith then received it inside the area on 16 minutes.
He took it past his man before seeing his effort turned away by the legs of Allan.
Jefferson Goncalves managed to bring it down the left before squeezing out of a three man press before setting it back for Roberts.
The midfielder then fired over the bar from 25 yards.
Ten minutes before the break, Ben Trafford spotted the run of Atkinson down the middle.
It was a great ball to reach the attacker whose lob beat the goalkeeper but just bounced the wrong side of the post.
The hosts then had their first attack of the game, though they'd be clinical with the ones they'd get.
Christopher Happi-Fankam's long range effort was well held by Walker.
After one additional minute we paused for halt time.
After the interval, Dainty won a corner.
Adams picked out Trafford whose header fell to Dainty, who lashed it over from the edge of the box.
The hosts then had an ambitious effort saved by Walker, as a Happi-Fankam overhead kick was held by the 'keeper.
Luke Smith was unlucky not to have broken the deadlock just before the hour mark as the young midfielder unleashed a rocket from 20 yards but Allan superbly tipped it wide.
South's Hajdari was then sin-binned for dissent, leaving the hosts momentarily down to ten.
Following a Hewitt cross, the ball seemingly bounced onto the hand of a South Liverpool defender, but the referee waved the adamant Longridge appeals away.
Ashcroft made a double change moments later, as Jack Anderton and Jordan Dainty departed for Ryan McLean and Lucas Wane.
With just under twenty minutes left to play, the hosts came forward and the ball bounced out of play.
The linesman flagged for a goal kick whilst the referee overruled and gave a corner.
Town initially cleared their lines, but the ball was crossed back into Weaver who nodded it into the back of the net.
Town looked to go again but found themselves on the backfoot again.
Almost immediately after the first goal, and with their sin-binned man coming back on the South threw bodies forward on the counter.
It was squared over to Hough who blasted it home for a quick fire second.
Town responded with two consecutive corners.
The first, taken by Adams almost curled over Allan but the 'keeper once again kept it out by tipping it just over.
The second, was a pinpoint delivery by Adams, headed into the near post by Liam Atkinson as Town pulled one back.
Ashcroft immediately then made a triple substitution, with Luke Smith, Harvey Roberts and Jefferson Goncalves being replaced by Mitch Marshall, Jacob Bridges and Lewis Richmond.
As we entered the final ten, Hewitt was brought down outside the area.
Adams crossed but the hosts cleared.
Looking to run the clock down, Allan did the age old bring the ball into the far corner of the box.
He picked it up when Adams pressed, and then dropped it when he left.
As Adams chased it down again the goalkeeper picked up again, causing a double touch.
Unfortunately this was seemingly not spotted by the officials.
Jacob Bridges shot wide from 20 yards as Town won it back and attacked.
As six minutes were added on, Town had the ball in possession at the back, but Weaver pressed and won it back, racing through and chipping the advancing Walker to seal the three points for his side.
Town kept battling to the end but ultimately came up just short on a frustrating evening.
A big thank you to those who travelled down and backed the boys, and to South Liverpool for the kind hospitality.
We go again at home to Glossop North End on Saturday 9th November.
We'll see you all again then.
